Inside Star Photo Digital Arts

Meet the Owner of Star Photo Digital Arts in Anderson Indiana

Welcome to our first blog post!  We want to use this space for helpful hints, inside information and give our customers a chance to know us a little better. To that end, let me introduce to you our owner and chief operating officer and his sidekick…

Choco, our Public Relations Rep, is an important staffer that takes his job and the need for treats seriously. He’s a mixed breed rescue; we don’t know exactly what the mix is made of, but we all think he’s perfect the way he is. He’s a greeter, a charmer and a trickster all rolled into one. He has a whole host of tricks he will do for treats.  We’ve got a mug on the counter full of treats – when you come in just ask him to sit or shake before rewarding him. He’ll be your bud forever if you do…

Choco’s human and owner of Star Photo Digital Arts, Chuck Rossen, is the youngest child, and only son of Morris and Celia, the founders of Star China. Chuck grew up playing, and then working in the store, helping his father grow the business. After Chuck graduated from college and returned to the family business in the 1970s, he was looking for something to do in the business that he could make his own. It was then that he got an unsolicited offer from the KIS photo company, selling film processing units to small businesses. The line of business was added, and quickly took off.

Star China entered the digital age with abandon on both sides of the business. The China side quickly set up an online store, selling and shipping to customers all over the world. The Photo business also thrived with the new trend of digital photography. They quickly gained clients who were looking for someone who could keep up with technology, and Star Photo was more than able to provide.

Star China closed the housewares portion of the business in 2004. The photo portion of the business has expanded and today we are still keeping up with the ever changing world of digital photography. In addition to processing color print film (C-41 process), Chuck has added putting images on canvas, paper, metal and coffee mugs (among other things). We can do banners, posters and life-sized cutouts.  He is working with our staff offering Business to Business marketing solutions. We recently updated our website and we still offer online ordering at mystarphoto.com.  We also have a photo studio that specializes in baby and family portraits, business head shots and fine art reproduction.
